Nike Tailwind
12,000 SF
Beaverton, Oregon

Designed to be the new shared home for both the engineering and design departments of Nike’s Air Technology, the spaced used the L-shape of the existing floor plan to create two zones, one with assigned desks and one with freestyle workstations. These work settings are joined by a central entry, hub, and stretcher bar where the two zones meet. Design Review Rooms and Project Workshops anchor the ends of each wing to create a loop between design, engineering, prototyping, and review.

New skylights, exterior glass, soft uplighting, and newly exposed structural components offer a relaxed and expanded volume within a relatively constricted clear height. Team rooms, focus rooms, and phone rooms are scatted throughout the space at a 1:1 ratio to support cross-departmental collaboration. Inspiration and belonging are fostered by curated brand installations designed by a brand partner, which are specific to the groups that occupy the space, and which reinforce the innovative and creative work they produce in this space daily.
