Nike Project 40 (Nike P40) was developed as the third and final manufacturing facility for Nike AIRMI, the division responsible for creating the air soles that Nike uses in many of their shoes. While the objectives of the design varied from sport connection to cross-collaboration, the overarching concept was layers of innovation. The space sought to tell this story of innovation for three distinct user groups on their journeys through the facility.
The ground floor serves as a community hub for all employees, their friends and families, and industry peers who come to tour the space. A fitness center, full sized basketball court, wellness spaces, and a dining hall are all arranged around a central spine connecting the lobby with the mezzanine and the manufacturing floor.
Outside of the mezzanine office workspace, an observation deck provides views into both the basketball court and the manufacturing floor, and is the starting point for an elevated tour loop which showcases a quarter of the nearly million square foot facility.
