The world’s leading designer of flow meters, Micro Motion engineers cutting edge devices that provide metering of any material which flows through piping. Seeking a facility to match their reputation in quality, Micro Motion’s Flow Innovation Center is the new home for their Customer Center and Corporate Headquarters. Their talent and reputation inspired the concept of “flow”, which, along with their unique location near the front range of the Rockies, is used as a design influence.

This site was the last remaining undisturbed parcel left in the area and is composed of two plats with a sanitary sewer line and easement cutting through the property. The design approach – two buildings connected by a bridge – not only solves for the requirements of the site, but also creates an architectural concept inspired by the building’s program. While one building contains the company’s headquarters, the other is home to the central component of this project – the Customer Experience Center (CEC). In addition to lounge areas, and conference space, the CEC contains a multi-story “Interactive Plant Environment” (IPE), which sits inside a glass box adjacent to a central lobby space and allows the client to provide real world training on their products in a working industrial environment.

In keeping with the client’s mission to provide efficient and sustainable products, energy efficiency and wellness are embedded in the architecture. Rooftop PV array, evaporative precooling, condensing boilers, lower lighting power density/daylighting and an improved thermal envelope contribute to this building providing 30% energy cost savings above ASHRAE 90.1-2010. The facility includes wellness rooms, access to daylight, outdoor meeting areas, bike parking and repair, free EV charging, and serves as a focal point for Micro Motion’s central functions for years to come.
