Serving as a home to collaborative research between local universities, businesses, and the community, AMICSTL has been designed not only to develop next generation manufacturing methods, materials, and technologies, but to showcase these to the public and engage future generations of engineers. Having the historic perception of an underwhelming career path, AMICSTL seeks to illustrate that manufacturing today is exciting, engaging, and innovative.

To this end, the facility has been designed to maintain a historic North Saint Louis street, with a central community space bridging the north and south portions of the building. The North Lobby offers a cafe and the South Lobby connects to an Auditorium/ Maker’s Space – both which are open to the public. Beyond these functions, High Bay Innovation Cells, Low Bay Research Labs, and Workspaces support collaborative research.
