Located in the Grand Center Art’s District, Loyola Academy is a Jesuit, all-male middle school for students from grades six through eight. The school’s mission is to serve boys with the potential for college preparatory work, whose future is at risk due to poverty, residence in distressed neighborhoods, or other social or economic factors.

The primary challenge was to create a healthy, safe, and inspirational environment within the confines of a former industrial facility; to create an atmosphere comparable to any other college preparatory school in Saint Louis, but to do so within the existing building and budget constraints. Simple, cost-friendly materials create a clean and joyful palette. Classroom size, character and physical appearance all provide a contemporary, uncluttered atmosphere that compliments Loyola Academy’s philosophy, and builds a sense of pride among teachers, students, and the community.
