Situated on a 17-acre site, Fox teamed with Gensler Chicago (the Core & Shell Architect) to create a campus representative of the client’s local roots and increasingly global presence. Responding to the site, Gensler’s design split the project into two offset towers connected by a multi-level building. With a meandering landscape and stratified stone, the exterior design drew inspiration from rock quarries, concepts which are continued in the interior as a progression of dynamic volumes.
Accessed from multiple levels, the central connector, or Amenity Zone, allows visitors to enter at the main level, and employees, from the garage below. Major circulation paths link the gathering spaces, with openings carved into the volume to admit daylight and create visual connections. Movement within the towers is grouped around elevator cores to minimize disruption to quieter work zones.
Mirroring the Core & Shell design, the interior employs a modern, powerful palette through the use of high chroma materials (opaque and translucent red elements) alongside monochromatic elements, providing repeated visual cues to significant gathering spaces.
