John Berendzen, AIA, NCARB

Principal

John joined Fox Architects in 1988 and brings a wealth of knowledge, experience, and skill to the team. He has been a determined advocate for biophilic design throughout his career and has inspired a culture of care for the environment among the designers at Fox. He oversees many of the studio’s projects, guides technical and design mentorship, and leads the studio’s sustainability initiatives and commitments.   

John earned both his Bachelor of Science (BS) in Architecture and his Master of Architecture (M.Arch) from Washington University in Saint Louis. He is a past President of the St. Louis Chapter of the American Institute of Architects (AIA) and serves as a trustee of the AIA St. Louis Scholarship Foundation. In addition, he serves on the Board of Building Futures St. Louis, Eliot Society, Washington University School of Architecture, and is a past member of the Sustainability Commission for the City of Webster Groves. John is a registered architect in Missouri and 16 other states and a member of the American Institute of Architects (AIA)
